We want to Thank You!
Dear Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation,
Thank you so much for generous support in 2022. We wanted to take a moment and show you a little of the magic you helped create last year. As you know, this program is near and dear to our hearts as our son Oliver was diagnosed with leukemia in May of 2020. While he was in treatment, we came up with the idea for friends and family to “send a patch”.
This simple ask has created a movement of sharing patches.
“The Oliver Patch Project patches are so much more than pieces of material. Our patches reinforce hope, mend loneliness, and repair self doubt. Our patches represent support, compassion, and strength. Our patches are tokens of love, and are the symbols of our Warriors.”
— Brian and Trisha, Oliver’s parents
“I just wanted to let you know we received Jackson's jacket last week and we were blown away! The patches are adorable- and we love his name patch (he does as well). This is such a special gift for him and will mean so much when we can iron on all of his milestone patches (I think he's already been through all of the events except one so far).
Thank you so much for what you are doing for kids like my son. We so appreciate it and look forward to watching him wear the jacket!”
“I haven’t seen my daughter smile in months, and she gets so happy every time she receives a patch in the mail!”
“My son wears his jacket everywhere…even to sleep!”
Support
Your support means so much to our organization and allows us to make children smile during an impossible time in their lives. Each garment inclusive of twenty patches, 12 months of Patches of Positivity, monthly videos and educational and inspirational content costs $300.00.
Beginning in April of 2022, we allocated the $25,000.00 in funding from the Cornelia T Bailey P/Arts Grant to offset the costs for our our monthly inspirational Patches of Positivity (POP) Program in order to maximize our funding dollars.
At the time of this award, March 18th, 2022, there were 85 children actively enrolled in the Oliver Patch Project. On March 18th, 2023, one year later, our active child count in the program has grown to 607!
That is a 614% increase in the amount of children who received support in 1 year!
The more we learn about the impact of positive thinking and the reduction of stress on the efficacy of cancer treatment, the more we know our gut feelings were correct about starting and pursuing the Oliver Patch Project. In studies completed over the last 30 years, it has been shown that psychosocial factors including stress, depression and lack of social support are risk factors for cancer progression. With the growth of the OPP, we have provided smiles, positivity, and community to children and families in active treatment.
This impact has been felt throughout our Cancer Warriors, their families and loved ones. We would love to be able to count on your support for next year and in the future as we reach toward our long-term goal of touching every child in treatment for cancer in the United States.

Our Mission
The Oliver Patch Project (OPP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to create a free, fun, engaging platform where children with childhood cancers and their families can connect through a series of unique patches created by artists and designers just for them.
We empower kids to find their inner warriors, as they endure life changing milestone events, by providing a bit of sunshine throughout their cancer journey.
The project is currently open to children and teens in the United States undergoing active treatment for cancer, is supported by donations, and all the fun is provided to our Warriors 100% free of charge.
We believe in the power of positivity to promote healing.
How it Works
The process to empower our Warriors is simple and fun. Kids are given their first OPP intro patch by their Doctor, Nurse or Child Life Specialist. The magic QR code provides them with information on how to join the project online through the OPP website. Within the Warrior Login Portal, they will create their account and then the fun begins! Milestones
Like knights preparing for battle, our OPP Warriors suit up in their warrior jacket “armor” and earn Milestone Patches for each medical milestone treatment they complete along their cancer journey.
PATCHES = POWER
Patches of Positivity (POP)
After enrollment in the project, each Warrior will receive a new patch every month for the next year. All of this is provided to them free of charge through donations to the Oliver Patch Project. This project empowers kids to find their inner warrior, as they endure life changing events no child should ever have to face.
