Children and teens face an enormous amount of pressure in the world today. According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 36.7% of adolescents aged 12-17 report having persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.

Physical and mental health challenges easily compound these pressures, which can quickly become overwhelming for kids. While it’s easier than ever to stay connected; calls, emails, and texts can fall short during difficult moments — but receiving an unexpected gift in the mail can work magic.

In our increasingly digital world, the act of receiving something physical is a powerful way to let a young person know you care. A tangible token of love can alleviate loneliness and foster a sense of true support.

Reaching out through the mail reinforces connections in a busy world, reminds kids who are struggling that they are not alone, and may encourage them to open up and spread the love to someone else.

National Patch Day aims to spread love and positivity, one patch at a time.
